Topic that came up this week, analytics is a big issue in the discipline, yet when I research it or have conversations about it, I have never gotten a satisfactory or complete definition of what it is. Clearly it involves applied statistical analysis to address business problems. Still, that seems incomplete and lacking as a definition. So, I put it to the IG, how do you define data analytics as applied to accounting/finance?

includes several examples for how "advanced" analytics (e.g., regression, correlation, segmentation) can be applied to the CFO's domain.
