AI and Management Accounting

Attended a webinar on the state of AI in the enterprise today. Was an interesting discussion. The consultants leading it were very excited, but the results of the survey also showed most enterprises were very early in implementation and very few had really seen a return on the investment.

Still, it does make me think about how this new technology might impact accounting. Some think AI will take all accounting jobs. Others are more curmudgeonly. Certainly, how we do the work will be impacted. But will what we do be fundamentally transformed?

I agree with you about work being impacted. If accounting becomes less function and more mindset, that could be a transformation. Fundamentally, accounting is a study of transactions, and as long as transactions exist, I don't see AI transforming accounting fundamentally.
